SCVMC Scheduling Guidelines

Full-timers must provide complete availability for at least 1.5x the quantity shifts requested (20 days available minimum), as well as 5 weekend days per month. That means at least 5 full Saturday and/or Sundays. (These days count towards your minimum of 20 days of availability -- you must give at least 15 days of Monday - Friday availability to reach the required total of 20).

Per diems must provide complete availability for at least 2 weekend days per month. That means at least 2 full Saturday and/or Sundays.

If you fail to supply your schedule by the 15th of the month, 3 months in advance of schedule release, it will be assumed you are available to work any day of the upcoming schedule; thus, you are strongly encouraged to have submit it in a timely manner. The schedule request forms below CLOSE on the 15th, after which you will be unable to submit your availability.

Vacation: Vacation requests must be submitted at least 90 days in advance. If you desire to have 6 or more consecutive days off, this must be submitted for approval per VEP policy. This is to prevent a situation where everyone takes vacation at the same time. I will make every effort to approve vacations and make time-off requests happen, but I cannot approve unless it's submitted in a timely fashion (and you have the PTO in your account to cover your monthly requirement/are working enough shifts in the month to cover your full-time commitment).

Holidays:
In general, holidays (and the weekends/days around them), will be equally shared by the entire staff, taking into consideration prior holidays assigned last year.

Please do not plan vacation during these holiday times without explicit prior approval; doing so risks putting your plans at peril. Black out dates for vacations are outlined below:

Thanksgiving week from Wednesday - Sunday

Christmas Eve - January 1st

Memorial Day Weekend

July 4th - All days from the Saturday before the 4th of July
- the Sunday after the 4th of July
